Since its monumental opening in 1993, establishing itself as the first city spa in Thailand, The Oriental Spa has become a temple of well-being for many guests. It is set in a class of its own in a traditional Thai-style house made from beautifully carved golden teak wood.

The recently opened Ayurvedic Penthouse is Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok’s brand new wellness facility and the only of its kind in Bangkok. Located above The Oriental Spa it is recognized as a holistic centre of tranquility and provides the setting for a truly authentic healing experience.

To create a truly unrivalled authentic Ayurvedic experience, the majority of the equipment used has been imported from India, from the stand alone copper bathtubs to wooden therapy beds made from 100 year old medicinal wood hand polished and seasoned with therapeutic oils to provide an ideal setting for oil body treatments.

These treatments include the classical Keraleeya Abhyangam synchronized therapy which includes harmonious strokes, rhythm, speed and pressure by two therapists, Udwatanam, a dry herbal massage treatment using classical Ayurvedic herbal powders, Pizhichil, the unique and luxurious rejuvenation therapy and many more exclusive treatments of Ayurvedic health tradition.

These detoxifying healing therapies combine the expertise of 5000 year old Indian medical sciences with relaxing massage techniques under the age old belief that a healthy body free of toxins will assure a peaceful mind that is absolutely essential to a fulfilling and happy life.
