Accommodation
Offering some of the world’s most spacious and exclusive accommodation, our 123 luxurious villas, colonial suites and signature residences have been lovingly handcrafted in keeping with traditional Lanna architecture and feature extensive museum-quality artefacts and antiques. The villas open onto spacious terraces, some of which feature private plunge pools or swimming pools. Exquisitely designed interiors and Mandarin Oriental’s signature technology contribute to an overall atmosphere of luxury and serenity.

Villas
The Villas are inspired by authentic northern Thai rice houses and are made out of teakwood. Each one is unique and offers a luxurious blend of modern and traditional style accommodation.

The Villas feature two floors with extensive living space on the ground floor and ample sleeping space upstairs. Common features include a whirlpool tub, separate shower stall, outdoor deck/terrace and a Thai sala (pavilion).

Colonial Suites
All the suites are located in the northwest area of the resort and boast tropical garden views, while being in close proximity to the main swimming pool, main lobby and all-day dining area. The suites are housed in a beautiful colonial style two-storey building. First floor suites boast spacious balconies, while ground floor suites enjoy direct access to the lush gardens. Decorated in charming colonial style, each suite features a bedroom and separate adjoining living room, as well as a large private veranda. The five metre high ceiling enhances the guest’s sense of open space and palatial living.

Signature Residences

Penthouse Residence
The concept and design of this suite is inspired by ancient palaces and it has an air of colonial elegance. A unique feature of the Penthouse Residence is that it offers its own private spa comprising a spa treatment room and indoor/outdoor massage areas where guests can enjoy exclusive spa services in the privacy of their suite. Other features include a king-sized bedroom, living room and dining room with a pantry. 

The Royal Residence
A stay in this enormous self-contained compound is an experience of a lifetime. The Royal Residence is its very own ‘private retreat’ and is ideal for guests who seek exclusivity and privacy. It comprises six bedrooms - three with a king bed and three with twin beds. The compound’s ancient palace-style architecture epitomises the grandeur and opulence of a bygone age, while every modern convenience and extensive facilities have been incorporated - spacious bathrooms, generous living room space, a large dining room and pantry. All are connected by quaint brick walkways. Three private pools and three jacuzzis complete the picture of ultimate luxury, while a picturesque lotus pond adds to the enchanting setting.

Meeting Facilities
The resort has a range of facilities that cater to a variety of meetings and events both in terms of size and nature. The Grand Ballroom can accommodate up to 500 guests, while the popular ceremonial lawn (Khuang Khong Khao) provides the perfect outdoor venue in the heart of the resort. The lawn can comfortably accommodate 1,000 guests. Equipment and meeting support facilities include LCD projectors with screen, overhead projectors, high-speed internet access, IDD lines, fax machines, photocopiers etc.

Restaurants & Bars 
 
Le Grand Lanna (Thai cuisine)
Specialty Thai restaurant with seating for 180 inside and outside. Cuisine is from both northern and central Thailand. Le Grand Lanna is set within a cluster of traditional Lanna style buildings and is open for lunch and dinner. A Thai Classical Dance Show entertains guests nightly.

Fujian (Chinese cuisine)
Chinese restaurant serving Imperial Chinese cuisine in an elegant two-storey Sino-Portuguese style mansion. Lunch is Cantonese and Dim Sum, while dinner features contemporary dishes and a degustation menu. The restaurant seats 73 guests, including outdoor dining.

Farang Ses (French cuisine)
Opulent French restaurant serving Provençal cuisine incorporating the fresh and aromatic flavours of the French countryside. Located next to the spa reception, overlooking rice paddy fields and with live piano music each evening. Farang Ses is open for dinner only.

Rice Terrace (Spa breakfast & evening bar)
Serving a healthy spa breakfast and then transforming into a bar in the evening, the Rice Terrace is located below the spa reception facing the rice paddy fields. It can accommodate 54 guests.

Loy Kham Bar (Pool Bar) - Snacks & Beverages
Located beside the Loy Kham Pool, serving snacks and beverages around the poolside.

Akaligo (Mediterranean & Italian cuisine)
Situated off the main lobby, Akaligo offers buffet breakfast and a la carte dinner. The restaurant has inside and outdoor terrace seating.  

Horn Bar 
Open every evening from 6 pm till midnight, Horn Bar serves cocktails, spirits, beers and fine wines. Situated off the main lobby, the bar’s interior features masks from different regions in neighbouring Myanmar, depicting mythological characters.

Oriental Shop
Located in Kad Dhara Shopping Village alongside the resort’s main entrance, the Oriental Shop serves homemade cakes and pastry items, coffee, tea and juice. 

Facilities & Services
The Dheva Spa and Wellness Centre

Spread across 3,100 square metres, The Dheva Spa and Wellness Centre is a destination in itself. Modelled on an ancient Mandalay palace setting from Myanmar, this awe-inspiring cluster of teak buildings features a seven-tiered roof, symbolic of reaching the heavens. Within the spacious 18 treatment rooms and suites, each guest is treated like royalty. A wide range of therapeutic treatments based on local and ancient healing techniques is offered.

The extensive treatment menu includes signature ceremonies adapted from traditional practices of Northern Thai, Burmese and Indian cultures. Key treatments include The Royal Thai Ceremony, Lanna Ceremony, Mandalay Ceremony and Indian Ceremony. There is also a full range of aromatherapy treatments, as well as reflexology, heat therapies like Hammam and authentic South East Asian scrubs, Rhassoul with Thai herbal mud, Watsu therapy, facials and hand and foot treatments.

Health and Fitness Centre
State-of-the-art fitness centre providing facilities for both private and group tuition in popular and alternative forms of fitness and wellbeing. The centre is complemented by two outdoor tennis courts, for which a hitting partner is available.

Cultural Centre
Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi, Chiang Mai is the only resort in Chiang Mai that offers guests a daily program of arts and crafts demonstrations – basket making, bamboo weaving, rice pounding, paper cutting and flower arranging. Guests can either watch or participate. The Cultural Centre also hosts lectures by local and foreign experts on a wide range of topics related to Southeast Asian Culture, as well as artisan and craft demonstrations.

Jum Sri Hall Library
This world-class library houses several thousand volumes of books, journals and periodicals related to the region’s art, culture, cuisine and traditions. There is also a wide variety of books related to cooking, nature, health and fitness, yoga and meditation. In addition, there is a large selection of children’s books and a collection of DVDs and CDs. All of these are available for complimentary use by resort guests.

Amphitheatre
This unique brick amphitheatre, surrounded by a moat and towering trees, provides an enchanting venue for private outdoor music and dance performances.

Lanna Kids Club
Lanna Kids Club is located in a 100 year old northern Thai house and runs a daily program of activities, including fun lessons in Thai dancing, Thai music and arts and crafts. There are also traditional Thai games and toys available. In addition, children can experience rice planting, yoga for kids, paper making and umbrella painting.

Kad Dhara Shopping Village
Located alongside the resort’s main entrance, Kad Dhara Shopping Village is inspired by the northern Thai style of the past. The quaint collection of shuttered wooden shop-houses is home to a number of specialty shops and upscale designer boutiques, as well as the Oriental Shop bakery/coffee corner and Fujian Chinese restaurant. Guests can stroll through the village at their own leisure for a unique and hassle-free shopping experience.

Weather 
The best months weather-wise to visit Chiang Mai are between October and April. The cool season is from late October until the end of February with average temperature ranging from 12°C to 28°C (53.6ºF to 82.4ºF). March to May is the hottest period, with average temperature from 22°C to 35°C (71.6ºF to 95ºF). June to September the weather is relatively warm and humid, with typical tropical showers in the late afternoon, and overnight temperature ranging from 22°C to 32°C (71.6ºF to 89.6ºF).

Airport 
Chiang Mai International Airport is a 15 minute drive from the resort and offers direct flight connections linking the city to points throughout the region including Kunming, Luang Prabang, Vientiane, Myanmar, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Sightseeing & Expeditions 
Shopping

Chiang Mai is Thailand’s major centre for quality handicrafts. There are various shopping areas such as Sankampaeng (a short drive from the resort) which is the best known district for cottage industries, parasols, silk and cotton weaving, jewelry, woodcarving, silverware, celadon and lacquerware. Visitors can watch local artisans at work creating the various products. Baan Tawai in Hang Dong district (toward the south of the city) is famous for woodcarving and basket weaving. In the heart of the city is The Night Bazaar, a popular shopping street featuring a wide variety of handmade products and souvenirs, many from local villages.

A must-do is to visit the Saturday and Sunday Walking Streets held in the central city every week from late afternoon till about 11 pm, for a pedestrian-only festive atmosphere packed with arts and crafts, decorative items, clothing and novelty stalls as well as street entertainers and food.

Natural Attractions
As the principal city of northern Thailand, Chiang Mai is a good base from which to explore the surrounding countryside. This mountainous region is home to the country’s hill-tribes and visits can be made to the villages. Activities such as trekking, river rafting, elephant riding and forest canopy zipline rides enable adventurous exploration of this beautiful area. Natural attractions such as Doi Inthanon National Park, orchid farms, waterfalls and caves are also worth visiting.

Historical and Religious Destinations
Chiang Mai was the capital of the historical Lanna Thai Kingdom (Kingdom of One Million Rice Fields), which is the first independent Thai kingdom within the fabled Golden Triangle.  There are many sites and locations where tourists like to visit such as Chiang Mai’s visible landmark Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, Wat Phra Singha, Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Suan Dok, Wat Chiang Man, Wat U-Mong, Chiang Mai National Museum and Wiang Kum Kam.
