Luxurious Guest Accommodation
The hotel's seven floors accommodate 182 rooms including 31 suites that have been considerably extended and now resemble luxurious and desirable apartments rather than hotel bedrooms.
The room interiors combine intelligent symmetry with clean curves, embellished with new furnishings. Art Deco's bold flourishes are softened by the sun-filled palette of earth tones chosen by the decorator; peach, cognac, plum and chocolate.
Luxury materials have been used throughout: parquet, Greek marble and wool carpets are the principal materials for the flooring; the remainder of the fittings are in leather, silk, mohair and wood veneer. Every item of furniture is Swiss-made.
Every room features a desk, two telephone lines (one of which can be used as a fax line); four telephone handsets, including one in the bathroom; a LCD flat-screen television, a laser printer and an electronic wall safe which is personally coded by the guest. A fax machine can be placed in all rooms with the hotel’s compliments with a new private number for each new guest.
Each of the spacious bathrooms is decorated in fine Greek St. Helena marble and features separate baths and rain-showers, luxurious towels, robes and towel warmers. Soaps, gels and other accessories are by Molton Brown and are all bio-degradable.
A Unique System
A unique convenience in all rooms is a sliding cabinet. This clever innovation incorporates the mini-bar and shoe compartment, and can be accessed either by the guest in the bedroom or by hotel staff in the corridor. It's a simple, effective system which allows the mini-bar to be kept fully stocked and for shoes to be cleaned and returned while leaving the guest in complete peace.
The sliding cabinet is just one example of the hotel's commitment to maintaining its period style while introducing state-of-the-art equipment.
Junior Terrace Suites & The Oriental Terrace Suite
The suites have been designed by Buzz Design of Hong Kong who has created a contemporary urban retreat concept. All the suites have private terraces to enjoy panoramic views of the Rhone River, Geneva’s historic Old Town and the surrounding snow-capped mountains. For extra space most of the new accommodation is inter-connecting and can be converted into one luxury apartment. Each suite features Mandarin Oriental’s sophisticated guest technology which includes wireless broadband and B&O televisions with entertainment system.
The Junior Suites have beautifully spacious rooms with high ceilings and large terraces overlooking the river. They are decorated in warm earth-colour tones creating a calming effect. The furnishings are contemporary with a touch of Art Deco which links back to the original design of the hotel.
All suites have luxurious, spacious bathrooms and a glass wall that allows natural light from the living room to filter in.
The Oriental Suite is ultra-luxurious; it covers 150 sqm and has a large living room, dining room with a butler’s pantry, bedroom with walk-in closet, spacious bathroom and its own spa facilities, including a hamman. It also has a 62 sqm terrace which looks out over the river and the Salève mountain. The design complements the new Junior Suites and includes a few touches of colour. The furniture is stylish and comfortable and features Art Deco design elements.
The Mont Blanc Suite
One of the hotel’s premier suites is the Mont Blanc Suite, located on the very top floor with a 360 degree view and its own elevator. The Mont Blanc Suite combines Art Deco elegance and comfort; direct elevator access means that discretion and tranquility are guaranteed. There is also a private staircase that links to the Presidential Suite below. The Mont-Blanc's terrace looks out over the city, the lake, harbour, the Salève mountain and ultimately - weather permitting - the peak for which the suite is named.
