Since its comprehensive US 150 million renovation in 2006 Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong’s has been completely restored, redesigned and revitalised.
A significant component of the extensive renovation was the complete upgrade of the facilities of this legendary hotel, while maintaining level of refined luxury and a reflection of the hotel’s oriental heritage, which guests of this historic property have come to expect. Subsequent feedback from guests and Hong Kong residents alike have proved eloquent testimony to the success of this venture. The entirely new 502 guestrooms and suites – all of which are individually furnished and decorated in exquisite materials and handcrafted finishes – have been enlarged, making them some of the largest in the city, and now feature the very latest guest-orientated technology.
None of the hotel’s 6 signature suites are alike, with each one lovingly created to reflect a true sense of place, and most offering breathtaking views over Victoria harbour. The most striking of the collection is the Lichfield suite, dedicated to the memory of Patrick Lichfield, the esteemed photographer who was a regular guest of the hotel and the photographer behind the Group’s award-winning advertising campaign. The interior designs for this suite are exclusively by Nicky Haslam, who pays homage to Lord Lichfield’s eclectic style and celebrated life by incorporating Lichfield’s personal mementos and framed photographs in the suite.
The presidential suite, aptly named the Mandarin Suite, boasts priceless objets d’art and a living room with seven rooms, balcony and double height full-length soaring windows overlooking Victoria harbour. Restored furniture is artfully mixed with carefully selected handcrafted pieces sourced personally by the hotel’s General Manager. The master bedroom and main bathroom have both increased in size to incorporate a vast en suite bath with views of Hong Kong’s cityscape on one side. An adjoining couple’s spa suite offers a private sanctuary for treatment, reflection and exercise.
Each of the rooms and suites are lovingly dressed with pure linen bed sheets, goose-down pillows, designer bathroom products and fresh florals. All have outstanding facilities including two telephone lines, an interactive entertainment system, SMART lighting controls, DVD players, in-room safe, wi-fi high speed internet access and a personal bar. In true Mandarin Oriental style, added details which make a subtle difference have been considered, with the introduction of ipod docking stations and an innovative pass-through valet box . Multi-lingual butlers also service every guestfloor.
An array of exciting accommodation packages have been announced and bookable via the hotel’s on-line booking service, www.mandarinoriental.com/hongkong or by calling +852 2522 4466.
