Recognizing the technological sophistication of today’s travellers, Mandarin Oriental continues to lead the hospitality industry’s digital revolution, and has invested significant research and effort in supplying Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong with the most advanced guest-centered technology available. The hotel boasts a bespoke in-room entertainment system that is user-friendly and offers some of the first and finest high-definition channels in Hong Kong.
Each of the 502 rooms and suites has an inbuilt state-of-the-art entertainment system including a Denon DVD/CD/Radio surround sound media centre (with iPod and MP3 support) and high resolution Sharp or Bang & Olufsen LCD display television, with sizes ranging from 37” to 60”. The system is controlled centrally through a single remote control and the system’s on-screen menus.
Extensive complimentary television channels (the highest in Hong Kong at 62) and high-definition on-demand short programming are provided with an easy-to-use electronic programme guide. In addition, the hotel has assembled a comprehensive offering of paid on-demand content including the latest movie releases, Hollywood classics, documentaries, television programmes and music from around the world.
High quality Internet access via the high resolution LCD display supported by the supplied wireless keyboard is also available as well as high speed wi-fi throughout the property. There are also over 8,000 international internet radio and video programmes readily accessible, and for the optimum in-bathroom relaxation, an LCD television has been installed in each of the oversized bathrooms.
The entertainment system is complemented by an auxiliary panel located in the guest room desk which allows guests to connect their own equipment such as laptop, video camera, iPod or other music player and video game console. A Technology Kit has been placed in each of the rooms to take the stress out of travelling, which includes a range of commonly used cabling.
Further in-room enhancements include easy access to text messages, faxes, voicemail and hotel billing via the LCD television, together with SMART lighting and temperature controls that record guest preferences, so that upon return, the room is exactly as it was left.
A pioneer in luxury service standards, Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong is the first hotel to offer 24-hour business and technology butlers onsite who provide support to guests at any time of the day. This experienced team of technology experts can assist with not only troubleshooting, but sourcing of the latest equipment and software.
