Innovative Meeting And Convention Facilities At Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur

Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur introduces a dimension of class and luxury through its extensive meeting and conference facilities. The hotel is a 643-room luxury property adjacent to the magnificent 88-storey Petronas Twin Towers and is an integral part of the new Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) project.

Rachel Wong, Director of Sales and Marketing for Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur said, “Mandarin Oriental understands the needs and concerns of individuals who are responsible for organising and hosting meetings and events. Successful events do not just happen, and the priorities of our clients are seamless organisation, fault-free equipment and impeccable presentation and service. At Mandarin Oriental, we believe in taking full responsibility for helping clients derive the maximum benefit from their meetings. In 1998, Meetings by Mandarin Oriental, a customised programme designed to address the requirements of professional meetings and conference planners, was launched across Mandarin Oriental hotels worldwide. Meetings by Mandarin Oriental evolved as a result of extensive research with industry focus groups who were specifically targeted to establish which services and facilities are most convenient and useful when staging a function.

“The programme focuses on eight ‘promises’ or guiding principles that pledge a seamless experience for every event and ensure a response within 24 hours of the initial enquiry, personal planning and the appointment of a specialised team, alongside well-equipped meeting rooms and technical assistance.

“Meetings by Mandarin Oriental is designed to guarantee customers a better experience during the organisation process and the meeting itself. In order to address such specific details, Mandarin Oriental has made significant adjustments in the hotel team structure to introduce specialised service personnel attending to all pre-event planning, as well as a Function Host who is appointed as the point of contact for the duration of the event itself. This programme has garnered much success in our sister properties world-wide since its introduction.

Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur offers a total of 16 function rooms and two ballrooms that feature a private entrance. A distinct characteristic of the Grand Ballroom is that it is one of the largest pillarless ballroom offering natural daylight located in the city centre of Kuala Lumpur. The Grand Ballroom boasts a capacity of 2,400 persons theatre-style seating with a pre-function foyer area with full windows that offer stunning views of the landscaped KLCC Park.

The second ballroom, known as the Diamond Ballroom, is located on the ground level and can accommodate 450 persons for a sit-down dinner. Next to the Diamond Ballroom is the Group Registration Area, which will effectively function as a secretariat or the delegate registration area. The 16 function rooms, eight of which offer a view of the KLCC park, are located on Level 2. These rooms can be configured for corporate meetings, cocktails, private dinners and much more.

The state-of-the-art support facilities at Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur are unrivalled by any other in the city. Most of the projection systems, sound systems and other technical accessories are built in each of the meeting rooms. These support facilities include a hook-up function for live broadcasting, banquet table spot lights and conference systems.

Another unique feature of the hotel is the separate street level entrance to the ballrooms that will certainly be a welcome respite from Kuala Lumpur’s traffic woes. Other features include a large guestroom inventory of 643 accommodation rooms to support the different sizes of events and extensive leisure and entertainment facilities within walking distance - the KLCC Park, Suria KLCC shopping centre and Petronas Philharmonic Concert Hall among others.

Ms Wong continued, “Our prestigious address in the heart of the city’s most futuristic and progressive development is certainly an important driving force behind our business. As such, we have put great thought and care into planning a meeting and convention package that will cater to the country’s growing business needs. Owing to our strategic location, we anticipate that our clientele will come predominantly from our surrounding business area.

“The response to our hotel and the conference and banquet facilities has been overwhelming and we are pleased with the bookings that have been secured so far. These events range from international conferences of 500 persons to company dinners for over 1,500 persons,” concluded Ms Wong.
