Kuala Lumpur, January 2012 – Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced that Frank Stocek will take the helm as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur. A 28-year veteran of the industry, Stocek began his career in the hospitality industry with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in 1983 and has held several key positions within the luxury hotel group in China, Canada, Hong Kong and Indonesia. Most recently he was General Manager of Elbow Beach, Bermuda, a Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
In his new endeavour, Stocek will focus on strengthening the hotel’s brand presence and maintain its reputation as the finest hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Adding to its collection of national and international awards, Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur was recently awarded the five-star award for best city hotel services by Tourism Malaysia.
Stocek’s extensive background in renovation projects will serve as a driving force in the projects lined up for the forthcoming year which will involve the award-winning Lai Po Heen Chinese Restaurant and the city’s largest ballroom.
Passionate about a powerful service culture, Stocek believes that intensive training and having all colleagues engaged in a common vision is vital towards ensuring guests’ satisfaction. Stocek is a believer in the adage that happy staff equals happy guests.
On rare occasions when Stocek takes time off, he enjoys travelling with his wife and their 12-year old son and indulges in his love for regional cuisines, modern art and golf.
