JONAS A SCHUERMANN
GENERAL MANAGER
A veteran with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Jonas A Schuermann’s hospitality career consists of over 20 years of management experience in Switzerland and Asia. Schuermann, who hails from Switzerland, joined Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur in October 2004.
In his current capacity, he oversees the management of the city’s leading luxury hotel with 643 guest rooms, six innovative restaurants and two spacious ballrooms.
Schuermann’s previous appointment was the General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Macau where he managed the entire hotel and resort operation for three years. His longest tenure was with the renowned The Oriental, Bangkok, the group’s flagship property, where he advanced from Food & Beverage Manager in 1994 to Hotel Manager in 2001. He has also held management positions at The Palace Hotel in Beijing and The Peninsula in Hong Kong.
Fluent in three languages namely English, German and French, Schuermann graduated from Hotel Management School, Belvoirpark, Zurich, Switzerland.
