Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park is the only hotel in London to be located on Hyde Park, allowing guests’ unrivalled views of extensive royal parkland from many of its rooms and suites. Its position also offers guests an array of outdoor leisure pursuits including riding, cycling, tennis, jogging and rowing, as well as gourmet picnics which can be arranged by the hotel’s culinary team.
Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park’s position affords unobstructed views of the Royal Horse Guards as they pass daily en route to Buckingham Palace, visible from north facing rooms.
Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park is ideally located by the exclusive boutiques of Sloane Street and Harrods, and directly opposite Harvey Nichols, cementing its reputation as London’s premier hotel for the avid shopper.
Built in 1889, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park is steeped in history. Original Edwardian architecture and many original fittings provide guests with a true sense of traditional British elegance, whilst modern amenities ensure the comfort and convenience that one would expect of a five-star luxury hotel.
A history of royal association: Queen Mary was a regular visitor; the Prince of Wales - later Edward VII - came for society balls and most of his semi-official engagements; Princess Alexandra attended elegant dances; Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the late Princess Margaret first learned to dance here; Prince Philip held his polo and cocktail parties within the hotel as well as often bringing Princess Anne and Prince Charles to tea when they were children; and in October 2005, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip were guests at Baroness Margaret Thatcher’s 80th birthday party held in the hotel’s grand ballroom. Most recently The Royal Family were in attendance at the pre-wedding gala party, in the iconic Ballroom, on the eve of The Royal Wedding of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
A unique royal entrance in Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park’s Loggia is reserved only for international royalty and those who gain permission from the royal household. Perennially popular with wedding guests, this entrance has in the past been opened especially for newlyweds.
Located within Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, The Spa at Mandarin Oriental London is one of the world’s leading holistic spas. Adopting an innovative concept of booking ‘Time’ rather than specific treatments, each treatment is tailor-made to the needs of individual guests. A new bespoke Oriental Essence spa therapy has been introduced, which has been devised to introduce guests to a simple, effective and authentic spa experience in a short period of time. Oriental Essence consists of a powerful, hands-on body massage ritual that combines the potent effects of oriental meridian massage with the therapeutic benefits of Mandarin Oriental’s signature ‘Quintessence’ custom-blended essential oil.
A contemporary bar in the heart of London, Mandarin Bar is the meeting spot of Knightsbridge. Experience an extensive selection of cocktails and exotic nibbles in über-trendy surroundings with leather armchairs complemented by marble finishes, aesthetically blended with glass, mirrors and wood. The hotel now boasts two new restaurants, including the award-winning cuisine of Daniel Boulud and Heston Blumenthal, bringing the experience of seven Michelin stars under one roof.
Recently renovated, with the leafy landscape of Hyde Park as its back garden the Royal Suite is London’s premier address. A sweeping balcony runs the length of the suite, which contains a master bedroom and bathroom, separate living room, dining room and kitchen and two adjoining additional bedrooms, all finished with careful attention to detail and quality. Dine alfresco with a private dinner for 12 and a team of waiters to tend to your every need, host a drinks party for 50, or simply sit back, relax and enjoy the glorious views across Hyde Park.
For more intimate events, nothing epitomises refined luxury more so than the Rosebery Rooms where original masters from the National Maritime Museum, valued at approximately £4 million, provide additional style to perhaps the finest private dining room in the capital. Here, even the most discerning guests will find their expectations surpassed.
