Mr Helmut Gaisberger joined Mandarin Oriental, Manila in September 1995 from Le Meridien, Singapore where he held the position of General Manager for five years. This was preceded by two postings as General Manager for ANA Hotels in Manila and the Gold Coast in Australia, from 1984 to 1990. To date, Mr Gaisberger has gained over 30 years of experience in the hotel industry in many locations including Canada and the West Indies.

Mr Gaisberger received the Skal Tourism Personality of the Year (Hotel category) award in 2001 from Skal Makati. An Austrian national, Mr Gaisberger is a recipient of the Silver Star of Merit of the Republic of Austria (the highest award given to an Austrian national outside of the foreign, military, and diplomatic service); the Golden Cross of the City of Vienna for promoting Austrian art and culture; and the Golden Award of Merit for Overseas Austrians. He is a graduate from Hotel School Lausanne, Switzerland and speaks German, English, French and Spanish.
