Some Facts You May Not Know

Mandarin Oriental, Munich is ideally located in Munich’s old town. Surrounded by museums, the State Opera, theatres, the famous Hofbraeuhaus beer garden and the exclusive Maximilian shopping street, the hotel is only moments away from the city’s finest restaurants, boulevard cafés, art galleries, traditional gourmet markets and provides easy access to Munich’s major business areas.

Mandarin Oriental, Munich is housed in a former 19th century opera house. Original neo-Renaissance architecture and details provide guests with a true sense of traditional Bavarian elegance, while modern amenities ensure the comfort and convenience that one would expect from a world class luxury hotel.

Discoveries made during the restoration project reveal that Mandarin Oriental, Munich’s foundations encompass part of the Medieval city wall. A section of this historical city wall can be seen in the hotel’s cellar.

All of the hotel’s 73 spacious guest rooms and suites underwent a full renovation in 2007. Improvements to the guestrooms include hard wood floors, Biedermeier-inspired silk chairs, original artwork and Bang & Olufsen flat screens televisions.

Each of the hotel’s 25 lavish Suites is unique. The hotel’s exclusive Grand Mandarin (325 m²), Presidential (120 m²) and Oriental (70 m²) Suites, feature striking, contemporary Asian design using premium materials and technical refinements. They benefit from conservatories providing an airy, light-flooded atmosphere and offering unique views of the city’s landmarks.

The hotel’s new fitness and wellness center (150 sq m2 - 1650square foot) was opened in January 2012. A state-of-the art cardiovascular and weight training equipment in the gym will be erected on the ground floor of the hotel.

Mark’s the hotel’s Michelin starred-restaurant, features the tantalising cuisine of our Executive Chef Simon Larese. Restaurant Mark’s holds one Michelin Star for seven consecutive years: 2006 – 2012


Mandarin Oriental, Munich’s impressive wine cellar contains more than 300 exclusive vintages.

BistroMO, located in the lobby, with different food themes, changing every 3 month is open daily for lunch and dinner.

Mandarin Oriental, Munich has the China Moon Roof Terrace on the roof top with a rooftop heated swimming pool, offering breathtaking 360° views over the cityscape and the Alps. China Moon is open daily for lunch and dinner from May to October.

The wooden chalet at the rooftop is a completely original venue for private entertainment with a cosy Alpine atmosphere and views over the glittering city centre. The wooden chalet is open from November to January.

Business travellers and party planners alike appreciate that all of Mandarin Oriental, Munich’s three meeting rooms benefit from natural daylight. Air condition, high speed internet and wireless LAN is also available in all guest rooms, conference rooms as well as throughout the hotel’s public areas.

The preferred meeting point for Munich socialites; the intimate Mandarin Bar offers live piano music every evening (except Sundays) until 1 am.
