Hong Kong, 10 June 2008 -- Mandarin Oriental, Munich is delighted to announce the arrival of a fleet of state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz bicycles for guests’ exclusive complimentary use during their stay. A haven of luxury in the heart of the city’s historic centre, Mandarin Oriental, Munich is the perfect location from which guests can explore the delights of the city’s cultural sites in style and at their own pace.
Bicycles available are the Mercedes-Benz Trekking Bike for Ladies, the Fitness Bike for Gentlemen and the Kid’s Bike for young riders. There is no charge for bike hire but due to popular demand, bicycles need to be reserved through the Concierge 24 hours in advance. For full enjoyment of the Mercedes-Benz bicycle experience Mandarin Oriental, Munich has carefully put together three suggested bicycle tours ranging from 6km to 15km, suitable for all interests and abilities. Before starting out, bicycles and helmets will be handed over by the Concierge together with a thorough safety briefing.
Discover the English Garden, one of the world’s largest and most beautiful city parks. The tour takes you past sights not to be missed such as the Monopterous Monument built in 1836 as a temple for Kurfurst Karl-Theodor and The Chinese Tower situated in Munich’s larger beer garden. Meander down the Eisbach River and soak in the atmosphere of this peaceful city. Alternatively, the hotel offers the Cultural Tour and a chance to explore at leisure must-see sights such as Brienner Street, part of the Konigsplatz and The Pinakothek, Munich’s most important museum. For the enjoyment of younger guests the hotel suggests the Family Tour, which follows a path along the Isar River between the Zoo and Thalkirchen, taking in monasteries and old bridges and a wonderful natural setting along the way.
To complete the perfect day out, the hotel’s celebrated culinary team can offer individually created picnic hampers. Guests can tailor make their own hampers with a choice of local favourites such as an assortment of Bavarian sausages, cheese specialities and home-made bread and international delicacies including fresh lobster, parma ham and home-made specialties from the hotel’s patisserie.
