Scenic five-day, four-night excursion to San Francisco and Carmel Valley
Hong Kong, 24 August 2009 - From the golden hills of Carmel Valley to the towering spires of San Francisco, the sweep of California’s drama and beauty are at your feet with an exciting new travel offering from Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco and Bernardus Lodge.
The Crème de California offer begins as guests are transported by personal town-car service from San Francisco International Airport to Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco for a sumptuous two-night stay, including full daily breakfast for two. The property’s luxurious accommodations offer spectacular views of the city’s celebrated sites; the majestic Golden Gate and Bay Bridges, ships on blue water plying past Alcatraz Island with the Marin Headlands or the East Bay Hills in the background.
As guests settle in, room service arrives with the first of many delights included in this package; a dozen Bernardus Pinot Noir truffles and a half-bottle of Bernardus Pinot Noir. Guests will also enjoy a wine and cheese flight at Silks, Mandarin Oriental’s award-winning restaurant, where Chef de cuisine Orlando Pagan selects the day’s best market-fresh cheeses. Perfect wine pairings will be offered by Sommelier Nicole Kosta for an exploration of Northern California’s exceptional bounty.
Guests will also receive a complimentary “Harmony Massage” for two at San Francisco’s Burke Williams spa, beginning with blooming flower tea to alert the senses, followed by an exfoliating massage with Chinese herbs and aromatic oils. This blissful treatment is followed by a delicious antioxidant chocolate treat.
After two-days to enjoy the sights of San Francisco, travelers will drive down the California coast to sunny Carmel Valley, where oak-studded hills and bucolic wine country surround the renowned Bernardus Lodge. Charming guest rooms will await, each with a cozy fireplace, sumptuous feather bed and oversized bathtubs for two. Fresh cut roses and French doors opening onto a spacious balcony with sweeping views of the Santa Lucia Mountains complete the ambiance.
During their stay at Bernardus Lodge, guests will savor the resort’s award-winning fare featuring Cal Stamenov’s innovative culinary concept, “California Natural Cuisine.” Guests will enjoy a full breakfast daily for two in the comfort of the room or in Wicket’s Bistro, where one can view the photographs and mementos of Lodge creator, Bernardus Pon’s Olympic and racecar driving feats. Later, guests will relish a four-course meal in Marinus, perfectly paired with Bernardus wines set amongst the restaurant’s striking 12-foot-wide stone fireplace. A nightly drawn rose petal bath will complete the evening.
With the Crème de California package, an escape to the Bernardus Lodge spa is included. Guests have their choice of any two 80-minute luxurious treatments that are infused with pure and natural ingredients culled from the ocean, the vineyards and abundant, on-site organic gardens.
