2011 Philippine Culinary Cup

Hong Kong, 12 August 2011 - Grand Lapa, Macau is delighted to announce that Herve Lemonon, executive pastry chef of Grand Lapa, Macau, has won the gold award for the Pastry Bakery Showpiece at the 2011 Philippine Culinary Cup in the World Food Expo (WOFEX).

Lemonon wowed judges with his stunning craftsmanship and style of his showpiece - a half portrait of a lady in blue. He competed against 12 elite pastry chefs from around the world who were all competing for the honour.

Chef Herve was born in France and has been making desserts and pastry for more than 30 years. He became a big fan of his grandpa’s homemade desserts and decided to become a pastry chef when he took an apprenticeship in a cakeshop in France at the age of just 14. He joined the hotel in 1989 as Pastry Chef and was promoted to Executive Pastry Chef in 1994. During the 22 years with the hotel, Chef Herve has been involved with various international culinary competitions and won gold medals at Hong Kong International Culinary Classic (HOFEX) in 2009 and 2007 and Macau Wine & Gourmet Asia 2007.
