Chateau Margaux Makes Its Debut At Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong

Hong Kong, 6 August 2009 – Wine lovers with travel plans will want to ensure they are in Hong Kong on 5 November 2009, because that marks the date that Chateau Margaux makes its first visit to Asia, with an exceptional wine tasting dinner at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong.  The evening begins with a champagne reception at 7.30 p.m., followed by a six-course dinner at the Mandarin Grill hosted by Mr Paul Pontallier, director of Chateau Margaux.  The dinner is priced at HK$3,888 + 10% per person.

“This dinner offers wine lovers the rare opportunity to meet Mr Paul Pontallier in person and experience some wonderful vintages during a dinner that also showcases the culinary expertise of Executive Chef Uwe Opocensky,” says Director of Food and Beverage, Antoine Melon.  “Hong Kong is the wine capital of Asia and we are honoured that Chateau Margaux have chosen to hold their first public event here at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong.”

During the dinner, Mr Pontallier will give a presentation about the wines being opened that evening, which will include four vintages of Margaux Grand Vin (2001, 1999, 1995, and 1985) alongside Pavillon Blanc 2006 and Pavillon Rouge 2004. 

The Chateau Margaux wine dinner concludes the series of wine events held at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong in 2009, which saw visits by wine makers from around the world.  With a choice of ten restaurants and bars, Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong is fast gaining a reputation for world-class wine dinners and visiting chef programmes.  2010 is set to continue that tradition with a number of enticing names set to visit the hotel.
