Hong Kong, 17 September 2008 –In conjunction with the hotel’s autumn opening of Artěl, an exclusive design shop, Mandarin Oriental, Prague is delighted to introduce private shopping tours with one of the city’s most well connected and passionate shoppers; Artěl’s owner Karen Feldman.
A native New Yorker who has lived in Prague for more than 12 years, Feldman fell in love with Czech glass when she first arrived, inspiring the creation of her own business, Artěl Glass. She also became impassioned by the thrill of the hunt, amassing a large collection of vintage toys, children’s books and exquisite Art Deco furniture; “everyone has a certain skill set; apparently mine includes locating fabulous finds worthy of purchase,” she explains. Feldman will apply this expertise in helping Mandarin Oriental guests find their own “perfect little something”—be that piece of period furniture or a quirky vintage Czech toy.
After an initial consultation, wherein Feldman will get a sense of her client’s interests, a personalised shopping agenda will be created. On the tour, Feldman will share her coveted insider’s perspective and knowledge of the local retail scene, with the specific goals of the client in mind.
Rates for this exclusive experience:
• EUR 450 for three hours (three-hour minimum), including the initial consultation
• EUR 135 for each additional hour
• Transportation and international shipping - rates on request
• Groups of maximum three shoppers
“We are delighted to welcome Artěl to Mandarin Oriental, Prague,” says Clemens Hoerth, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Prague. “We are certain that its exciting, eclectic selection of hand-crafted crystal and one-of-a-kind items will enrich our guests’ experience of the hotel, and of Prague itself. Guided by Karen’s unmistakable eye for truly unique style, the shop will become a destination not just for hotel guests but also locals.”
This partnership should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with Feldman, who remarked in her book, Prague: Artĕl Style, that the hotel was her “home away from home and hotel of choice in Prague”.
Mandarin Oriental, Prague inspires guests to discover the shopping magic of historic Prague, where any season is the perfect time for gift buying while enjoying the breathtaking architecture and refined culture of the golden city of 100 spires.
