The Spa At Mandarin Oriental, London Awarded Best UK Hotel Spa By Condé Nast Traveller Readers

Hong Kong, 4 September 2009 – Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London is delighted to announce that Condé Nast Traveller (UK) readers have voted ‘The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, London’ the number one ‘Hotel Spa’ in the UK at the Readers’ Travel Awards 2009.   

Readers of Condé Nast Traveller were asked to rate the best travel experiences in the world, including the nation’s favourite city, the best airline, best tour operator, best cruise line, best hotels and best spas.  The results were collated and audited by an independent market research company.

‘The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, London’ is a haven of tranquillity within the heart of Knightsbridge that combines harmonious design elements with therapeutic rituals. Adopting a different approach to the traditional spa experience, the Spa offers a series of innovative and restorative treatments, known as ‘Time Rituals’, where guests are encouraged to book ‘Time’ rather than a specific treatment. 

This year the award-winning Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group launched their bespoke signature spa therapies, together with a product and homecare range. Developed in consultation with specialists in Traditional Chinese Medicine and master aromatherapists, each signature therapy consists of a relaxing, hands-on body massage ritual that combines the powerful effects of oriental meridian massage with the therapeutic benefits of custom-blended essential oils, created uniquely for Mandarin Oriental.

Each treatment begins with a recommendation by the spa manager to arrive 45 minutes ahead of the actual treatment.  This period of preparation enables all guests to fully immerse themselves in the philosophy of the spa by relaxing within the separate male and female areas. These include the Amethyst Crystal Steam Room, Sanarium, Vitality Pool and Zen Colour Therapy Relaxation Area.
