Our award-winning signature dishes include such delights as Goong Phad Prig Daeng (fried prawn with garlic and red chilli sauce) and Khanom Jeeb Thai (steamed Thai chicken and peanut dumplings). In addition to our fantastic buffet lunch and set dinner, we offer guests the chance to dine al fresco at the Terrace Rim Naam, which boasts an extensive à la carte menu.
Born and raised in seaside resort city of Pattaya in the province of Chonburi, chef Vichit Mukura developed a passion for cooking as a child. Aged just nine years old, his mother taught him how to make curry paste by pounding chilli with a pestle and mortar. When he was 16, he began his apprenticeship at a local hotel.
His career in the culinary industry spans over two decades during which he has worked in Thailand and Japan, working his way up from cook to chef status. Today, as Executive Thai Chef at Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, he oversees the complete process from kitchen operations to menu selection of the hotel’s two Thai food restaurants, Sala Rim Nam and Terrace Rim Nam. Over the course of his illustrious career, Chef Vichit has cooked for Royalty, Heads of State and numerous celebrities.
As an ambassador of Thai cuisine, Chef Vichit has, since 1987 travelled around the world sharing his knowledge and skills. In addition, as a highly respected authority on Thai cuisine, Chef Vichit writes regularly for several food and lifestyle magazines, and has appeared as a Guest Chef on both national and international television.
Launched in 2012, our exclusive “Chef’s Table” is the first ever to be introduced by a Thai restaurant in Bangkok. Set in the heart of the kitchen, diners will gain behind-the-scenes access to watch award-winning Executive Chef Vichit Mukura in action as he prepares a bespoke menu based on a handpicked selection of the day’s freshest ingredients.
On arrival, guests will be welcomed into the iconic restaurant by Chef Vichit to enjoy a welcome cocktail and private tour of the kitchen before being seated.
Throughout the evening, Chef Vichit and his team will interact with diners, gaining their input into the planning of the evening’s custom crafted menu. Guests will also enjoy informal master class sessions throughout the duration of dinner, watching as Chef Vichit prepares authentic Thai dishes in front of them.
