Authors’ Lounge

This exquisite room is a mixture of extravagance and elegance, with its high ceiling, chandelier and river life motifs festooning the walls. It has played host to royalty and heads of state, including charity events presided over by Her Majesty the Queen of Thailand. It can also be reconfigured into three smaller rooms for a more intimate function.

The

The Embassy Room - Designed and appointed in the same opulent style as the Ballroom, this is the smaller sized option – but with the same luxurious ambience.

The Board Room - An impressive board room in the traditional style, easily adaptable for a social function of between six and 24 guests.

The Regency Room - Originally the lobby where one could watch the world go by, the Regency Rooms were also recently restored to their former elegance. Hand-woven Thai silk panels in a turn-of-the-century French pattern now adorn the walls, while the French windows look out on to the cool and inviting Authors’ Terrace.

The focal point of the Regency Rooms is the ornate, full length mirrors at either end, reflecting the warm glow of the two hand-cut crystal chandeliers. The room’s elegance and intimacy is further enhanced by the comfortable sofas and chairs, decorated with gold fabric. They are set out to resemble a living room, or can be re-arranged for private cocktails and dinners.

Meeting

The Authors’ Lounge provides a sophisticated atmosphere in a summery, colonial setting – perfect for informal meetings of all kinds. It is located in the Author’s Wing, which is located in the hotel’s original site, and named in tribute to the many famous writers who have stepped through the doors of Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok over the years, from Joseph Conrad and Somerset Maugham to Noel Coward and James Michener.

Recently renovated to its former glory, delicate, white-washed rattan furniture with hand-painted upholstery and Siamese umbrellas now grace the lounge, amid towering bamboo and palm trees. It’s the perfect place for a romantic wedding reception or cocktail party for 150-200 guests.
