Viewers of the Barcelona Olympics came away with the enduring image of the high divers against the city backdrop. Barcelona has maintained its Olympic facilities and embraced sport with Spanish fervour, but nowhere is this excitement seen more than in the local football stadium.

There are sailing and windsurfing courses available at the Centre Municipal de Vela, Port Olimpic 100. In the warmer months a two hour tour is offered, including basic sailing techniques and tickets to maritime museum. As a guide expect to pay Euro 16 for children and from Euro 29 for adults. Guests have our rooftop dipping pool but for some Olympic strokes there is an excellent public facility in Barceloneta, right by the beach with a 50 metre indoor pool, an outdoor pool and children’s pool. It is obligatory to wear a swimming cap, if you don’t have one they do sell them.
To re-enact those iconic dives go up to the pools on Montjuïc, the much photographed venue for aquatic events during the Olympics, there are both 50m indoor and outdoor pools.
There are four kilometres of sandy beach, about seven in all with small breaks, along the city front. A palm lined promenade stretches the length of the beach and there are excellent facilities including pleasant cafés and outdoor shower facilities. The nearest beaches to the city centre are San Sebastià and Barceloneta. They are located in the Ciutat Vella district, south of our hotel.
There are a number of public tennis courts in Barcelona, within easy reach of the hotel. They are predominantly clay courts; all clubs have professionals available for private coaching. Our concierge will be delighted to make a reservation for you.
