Barcelona is an extraordinary city blessed with historic architecture, some of the finest food in Spain, streets of fashion and a sandy beach.

Antoni Gaudi introduced the world to creative modernism, an architectural movement that knew no boundaries beyond his imagination and Barcelona is filled with testimonies to his genius. Nearby Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona are the famous Gaudi Houses, Casa Batlló and La Pedrera and not far away his grand opus, the Sagrada Familia church. This astonishing unfinished work of art is in constant development, as funds wax and wane.

Barcelona is an enormously stylish city, overflowing with fashionable boutiques and chic retailers, particularly on the Passeig de Gràcia, where our hotel is located. Dining and drinking is sometimes an all day past time; enjoy tapas in between a slow meander around the city.  Evenings can be filled with entertainment, from opera at Gran Teatre del Liceu to the energetic street life of the famous Las Ramblas.

Off the main track are many quieter quarters; stroll down these narrow shady streets and you’ll find the homes and shops of local residents.

Barcelona’s unique attribute has to be its proximity to the sea. It has a lively marina and the beaches are exceptional, dotted with cafés where you can refresh yourself with the sand beneath your toes.

On these pages you’ll find our concierge recommendations on things to do and see, and where to shop and dine.
