Standard Time = GMT+1
Summer Time = GMT+2
Spain changes its time between summer and winter for daylight saving. This means that the last weekend in October the clocks go back 1 hour (at 3am it is 2am) and the last weekend in March they go forward 1 hour (at 2am it is 3am).

Local Language(s)

Most of Barcelona’s inhabitants are bilingual and speak Catalan, their own language, and Spanish. These are the two official languages of Catalonia.

Currency

Euro is the only accepted currency.
Units are: EUR, ERU 5, ERU 10, ERU 20, ERU 50, ERU 100, ERU 200 and ERU 500.
Coins are in the following denominations: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents or ERU 1 and ERU 2.

ATMs

City’s banks, savings banks (ATMs) and bureaux de change are widely available.

Electrical Standard

Local voltage is AC 220 Volts, 50 Hertz. Sockets use the round pin system. Adaptors are always available from housekeeping.

Shopping Hours

The most common business hours are Monday through Saturday, from 10:00am to 2:00pm with a break for and from 4:30pm to 8:00pm. Larger shopping centres and department stores stay open until 10:00pm and do not close for a siesta. Sunday is a holiday and only small shops in tourist areas will be open.

Banking Hours

Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 2:00pm
Saturdays from 8.30am and 1:00pm
Savings banks also open on Thursday afternoons, from October to April

Local Facilities

Our hotel is situated on Passeig de Gràcia, one step from anything you need. Rambla Catalunya, the parallel street, is full of shops, with local and international brands. Walking distance to the hotel, in Plaça Catalunya, you will find El Corte Inglés (Department Stores) and further down Portal de l’Àngel Street, a busy shopping area. You can also find banks, post offices or grocery shops in the area.

Most citizens of European countries and USA do not need a visa, Australians do. Please check with your travel agent or our concierge before travel.
