The opening of Mandarin Oriental, Beijing,  which was scheduled for the second half of 2009, has been postponed following a fire at the construction site in the spring of 2009. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed by CCTV, the owner and developer of the hotel.

Mandarin Oriental has signed a long term contract to manage the hotel and has no ownership interest in the building.
