Here we give you the options for travelling over the 21 square miles that make up the islands of Bermuda.

Around the Island

By Foot

Bermuda is a small island and often it might seem practical to stroll between sights however there are not always pavements so this can be awkward on the narrow, circuitous streets. Save your feet for the stretches of pink sands.

By Taxi

Most visitors to Bermuda use taxis. They are always available and are the most convenient method of transportation around the island. Taxi drivers are generally friendly and very knowledgeable. As car hire is not available some guests choose to make a touring arrangement with a taxi driver. Our concierge will be happy to help you. Refer to the fare table on the right for more details.

By Bus

Travelling in Bermuda's pink and blue buses is an efficient option and most buses are air conditioned. Even if this is not your usual mode of transport you will find it pleasant enough. Bus stops are distinguished either by a Bermuda-stone shelter, or a single pole; a pink pole signifies the bus is heading to Hamilton, and a blue pole means it is going out of Hamilton.

There is a bus station located right across the street from the main entrance to Elbow Beach. The buses stop at all major attractions and run every 15 minutes in both East & West directions. Buses do not accept cash, but tokens can be purchased with our Concierge.
USD 2.50 for a one-way token to the city of Hamilton.

By Boat

Being an island the ideal way to explore Bermuda is by sea and there is an excellent ferry service, Sea Express. Residents find this a reliable mode of transport and often a faster alternative to the buses. Ferries connect Hamilton with Paget, Warwick and the Somerset/Dockyard area. There are some seasonal routes but there are three year round ferry routes.

By Rent-a-Car

There are no self drive car hire services available in Bermuda; the roads are narrow and precipitous and already overburdened with traffic. You can always hire a taxi driver on a permanent basis during your visit. Our concierge will be delighted to make arrangements.

By Scooter

Scooters or mopeds are the best form of independent travel around the island for visitors. With a scooter you can reach the most spectacular vistas and hidden romantic coves. Hire available to over-18’s and by law you must wear a helmet at all times.

Elbow Beach has its own Bermuda moped rental company located here on the resort property. Guests can hire 50cc scooters for a day, week or weekend. The scooter rental centre offers flexible service that lets you see as much of the island as you want. The staff are friendly and professional and they provide guests with instruction and test rides prior to departing the property. They will also provide a map and tips to guide visitors to the best sights. After that, you’re free and ready to explore.
