'Ban Sam Lang' is made up of a group of three traditional northern Thai style houses brought here from villages in the surrounding countryside. The variety of daily activities of traditional crafts and ceremonies as detailed below.
Guests can view demonstrations of traditional rice pounding and weaving and try their hand at the crafts.
Enrichment classes include 'Traditional Thai Flower Arrangement' or 'Northern Thai Dance and Music'.
Guests can participate in daily rituals, such as the offering of rice to Buddhist monks on their morning alms rounds. We will also involve guests in the many other ceremonies featured throughout the year to correspond to the Lanna rice-planting and religious cycles.
If you are staying with us when an authentic Lanna style wedding takes place our guides will inform you of all the intricacies of ritual and costume. You will see a fine parade of attendants, musicians and an elaborate Bai Sri or string tying ritual in the northern Thai tradition. The procession of the groom's party to the bride's home is perhaps the most colourful part of the day's festivities with the groom transported on his choice of palanquin, horse and carriage or in princely style, atop a beautiful decorated elephant.
We can arrange private performances of Lanna music and dance in your villa. Please contact us at the Art & Craft Village (Ban Sam Lang).
For further independent reference guests will find our library an invaluable source with over 5,000 complimentary books.
