The march into March has begun! I don’t know about you, but I, for one, couldn't be more delighted. And although spring hasn’t quite sprung, she’s certainly giving us a glimpse of her ankle.

Those with well-dressed ankles who have fashion love to spare should head to Bangkok International Fashion Week this March for four days of catwalk shows featuring both emerging and established Thai designers, who will surely sate those hungry for sequins, sparkle and sophistication. Meanwhile, those of you with more sporty inclinations should score a seat or two at the world-renowned rugby Hong Kong Sevens (28 to 30 March), or if you prefer speed of a different kind, and like the smell of burning rubber, Kuala Lumpur is hosting the Formula 1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix (28 to 30 March). However, culture vultures will not find themselves out in the cold in Asia this spring, as you will find glitz and glamour at Hong Kong’s International Film Festival (24 March to 7 April), lilting vibes at the Philippine’s International Jazz and Arts Festival (until 16 March), and the best in local craftsmanship at the Manila FAME design exhibition (14 to 17 March).

In Europe, don’t bust a manifold gasket – car fanatics should rev up the engine and head to Geneva where the International Motor Show takes place from 6 to 16 March. Place your bets on which motor will drive away with this year’s coveted Car of the Year award.

Going stateside this month? Sure you are! There will be a right hooley in New York City, when all things Irish come out to play at the world’s largest St Patrick’s Day Parade, which takes place on 17 March. Over in Miami, get your groove on at the Winter Music Conference (21 to 30 March), where industry professionals, DJs, promoters, record labels and artists get together to move and make shapes. Or watch the smash and aces and volleys fly as Miami also hosts the 30th Sony Open Tennis (from 17 to 30 March). A particular highlight this month is Washington DC’s National Cherry Blossom Festival, which begins on 20 March and sees a month of events celebrating community spirit, nature, arts and culture. Check out the Blossom Kite Festival held in front of the Washington Monument on 29 March.

And to find out what is happening in the vibrant cities of Paris and Tokyo this March, we are delighted to welcome our two Monthly Insiders, Kim Laidlaw and Danielle Demetriou.
