For example, in our Knightsbridge property, we have rooms used for a variety of purposes, whether that be kids’ violin lessons or at-home gyms.”

Green spaces, too, are increasingly important. “We’ve observed a trend for being close to nature,’ says Wong Ettelson. “So at Mandarin Oriental Residences, Barcelona, owners can access a secluded rooftop garden scented with orange trees, and adorned with handcrafted, emerald-green ceramic paving that evokes Gaudí’s Parc Güell.”

Signature service

Service is next level at The Residences, whose teams are resourceful, thoughtful, and ready for any eventuality. “A resident of ours, who lives primarily in London, suffered water damage in their apartment, which they couldn’t attend to personally,” recalls one Director of Residences. “My team of engineers, house attendants and housekeepers immediately jumped in to take photos of their closets and personal items, making a record of where everything was kept before deep-cleaning their home and clothing. Every garment was later returned to its original place. I took care of the insurance claims and hired a contractor to complete the necessary work. The owner was surprised and delighted by how efficiently everything was taken care of in their absence.”
