Things to Do

  • Lake Cruise - 5 Minute walk/0.25 Km or 0.15 Miles
    No visit to Geneva would be complete without a cruise on the Lake – an inland sea surrounded by the Alps that offers visitors a range of cruises from one-hour sightseeing trips to an evening cruise including dancing and a gourmet menu.
  • Victoria Hall - 5 Minutes/2 Km or 1.2 Miles
    Since it opened in 1894, Victoria Hall has attracted the finest orchestras from around the world, cementing its reputation as Geneva’s premiere classical music venue. Renowned for its exceptional acoustics, the Rococo-style building can accommodate 1,850 visitors.
  • Grand Theatre - 5 Minutes/2 Km or 1.2 Miles
    An imitation of the Paris Garnier Opera, this impressive and majestic building was opened in 1874, and then meticulously restored over a ten year period following a fire in 1951. Of particular note are the elaborate ceiling decorations and stage curtain.
  • Carouge - 10 Minutes/3 Km or 1.8 Miles
    This suburb was developed in 1754 when it was granted to the Kingdom of Sardinia. The area has retained its air of the Mediterranean and there are bustling streets in which to stroll, trendy boutiques and antique shops to browse in.
  • Mont-Blanc - 90 Minutes/150 Km or 93 Miles
    A 90-minute drive through the scenic Arve Valley from Geneva will take you to Chamonix at the foot of the magnificent Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Europe. Visitors can take in panoramic views of the French, Swiss and Italian Alps.

  • Jet D’eau (The Water Fountain) - 5 Minute walk/0.5 Km or 0.15 Miles
    The icon of Geneva, it dates from 1891 when it was a simple valve to release water pressure in the hydraulic turbines on the River Rhône. Moved to its present location in 1951 it now has its own pumping station, sending a cascade of water 140 metres high
  • St. Peter’s Cathedral - 10 Minutes/0.5 Km or 0.3 Miles
    Building of the Cathedral began in the Old Town in 1160, although it has been restored over the years and features myriad architectural styles. On offer are fantastic views across the city and its surroundings at the summit.
  • Flower Clock - 5 Minutes/.25 Km or 0.15 Miles
    The famous Flower Clock symbolises the watch-making tradition of Geneva and is located at the edge of the Jardin Anglais (English Garden). Featuring 6,500 flowers and with the longest seconds hand in the world.
  • United Nations - 10-15 Minutes/3 Km or 1.8 Miles
    Originally called the League of Nations, the world famous organisation was founded in Geneva in 1919 with the Palais des Nations completed in 1936. Visitors to this internationally important building can sign the Golden Book of Peace.
  • Art & History Museum - 10 Minutes/3 Km or 1.8 Miles
    The most famous museum in Geneva houses a diverse collection of paintings, sculptures and archaeological items, including an assortment of work by Van Gogh, Monet and Renoir.

Where to Shop

  • Rue du Rhône - 5 Minute Walk/.25 Km or 0.15 Miles
    One of the busiest shopping areas in Geneva, it’s the perfect place to find jewellery stores and horology specialists, selling the most prestigious brands in Swiss watch-making, including Rolex and Baume & Mercier.
  • Grand Rue, Les Rues Basses - 10 Minute walk/.25 Km or 0.15 Miles
    Located in the Old Town, this pedestrian street is full of small antique and speciality shops, waiting to be discovered among the narrow passages and hidden courtyards.
  • Plaine de Plainpalais - 15 Minutes/2 Km or 1.2 Miles
    Early on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, this area comes alive with market stalls offering a mix of antiques, curios and bric-a-brac. This is a fascinating flea market experience where bargains can be found.
  • Rue de Mont-Blanc - 5 Minute Walk/.25 Km or 0.15 Miles
    If you’re looking to purchase items for which the Swiss are most famous – clocks, linens and embroideries, chocolates or Swiss Army knives – this popular street is the place to find them.
  • Outdoor markets
    To experience daily life in Geneva, visit the many outdoor markets on offer. The Place du Molard is located approximately 15 minutes walk from the hotel and is home to a daily flower market, while clothing and books are catered for on Place de la Madeleine, which is about 5 minutes by car.

Where to Dine

  • Auberge du Lion D’Or - 15 Minutes/5 Km or 3 Miles
    A contemporary restaurant with a warm welcome and cosy atmosphere, it’s actually a house with different sections. Flavours are international, but with an accent on fresh fish and the views across the lake are spectacular.
  • Senso - 5 Minute Walk/.25 Km or 0.15 Miles
    Situated just off Rue du Rhône in a discreet location, this luxury restaurant offers Italian food inspired by ancient recipes from 15th and 17th Centuries. The wine cellar has over 100 wines available.
  • Chez Lipp - 5 Minute Walk/.25 Km or 0.15 Miles
    A combination of French and international cuisine, the menu features many seafood and fish specialities. Diners are seated in brasserie-style décor and will find the welcome warm and friendly.
  • L’Auberge d’ONEX - 10 Minutes/2 Km or 1.2 Miles
    Positioned outside the city centre, this charming restaurant offers traditional Italian fare and an extensive selection of wine. Eat within the chalet-style interior or outside on the terrace.
  • Café du Soleil - 10 Minutes/2 Km or 1.2 Miles
    Founded about 400 years ago, this was originally the favoured meeting place of local politicians. Today, it’s still a famed meeting place for all. The menu is quintessentially Swiss and is a great informal place to eat fondue.
