Getting around Geneva is made simple by an award-winning public transport system.
With the central location of the hotel, finding your way by foot to the many sights and scenes of city life involves little more than a comfortable stroll. With Lake Geneva dominating the area, it’s no surprise that alternative transport options include ferries as well as taxis and trains.
Around Town
By Foot
With just a few minutes walk, the Old Town can be reached, which is home to many of the city’s historical and cultural landmarks including St Peter’s Cathedral, The Grand Theatre and the Flower Clock. Several bridges connect the left bank with the right and the best shopping areas are also just a few minutes away on foot. Our Concierge will be happy to provide a map on request.
By Taxi
Although not the most cost-effective method of transport, taxis are available from areas marked by yellow signs or road markings. Hailing a taxi is not uncommon, but it is better to find one of the 60+ taxi ranks or phone ahead from Taxi Phone.
By Tram
Geneva offers a very reliable tram service that runs throughout the city. Tickets can be purchased from kiosks at most stops and prices are based on a zonal system. Multi-day passes are also available. The Swiss Pass can be used on the public transportation networks of 37 cities in Switzerland and on many of the scenic railway journeys available. It can be purchased in 4, 8, 15, 22 day or one-month blocks with various other cards able to be adapted to your own schedule.
By Boat
There are a number of boat tours and excursions for both Lake Geneva and the River Rhône. There are three different ferry services to transport guests around the lake area at a cost of CHF 3.00 per trip.
Paquis to Eaux Vive
Paquis to Pont du Mont Blanc
Genève Plage to Perl du Lac to Paquis
By Bus
There are three central bus stations in Geneva, with two of these located within a 3-minute walk of the hotel. The bus infrastructure is expansive and has won a number of awards for cleanliness and efficiency. As with the tram system, tickets can be purchased at kiosks at most stops and there are daily or weekly passes available.
By Our Limousine
We can assist guests with airport transfers and a private limousine service throughout the city and the surrounding region. For costs please contact our Concierge.
By Train
Regular trains run like clockwork to most domestic cities from Geneva’s Gare de Cornavin, which is a short distance away from the hotel. International destinations are catered for with an ample number of services arriving and departing to and from all over Europe.
To and From the Airports
Geneva International Airport is a mere three miles from the city centre and straddles both the French and Swiss borders. There are a number of transport services available to guests.
By Our Limousine
We can arrange for our limousine service to greet you at the airport arrival gates and drive you to the hotel. An airport transfer by chauffeured limousine costs CHF 125.00 (one-way) and CHF 200.00 return.
Taxi
Taxis are best used by guests with a large amount of luggage, as there are quick and inexpensive public transport alternatives. The taxi rank is located outside the arrivals area.
Rental Car
Rental cars are offered by all major car rental companies and are perfect for those guests looking to tour Geneva and its surrounding area. Whilst parking is available at the hotel (CHF 37.00 per day), it can pose a problem in parts of the city. Parking restrictions are colour-coded: white is for unrestricted time (metered in most cases), blue indicates a 90-minute limit and red is for just a 15-minute stay. To park in these areas requires a parking disc on which your arrival time is noted and the disc placed on the dashboard – the disc is provided by the car rental companies.
By Train
By far the quickest form of transportation into town, the train takes only seven minutes. Please note there is a 300-metre walk from the airport terminal to the train.
Other Transport
Private jets and helicopters may land at Geneva International Airport with prior permission. Or if you plan to rent a plane, our Concierge will be more than happy to arrange one for you.
