Our Art and Culture Department offers a variety of cultural programmes, activities and classes to enhance our guests experiences and to provide them with the opportunity to discover more about the ancient Lanna culture.
Programs:
Cultural Activities
These include daily rituals, such as the offering of rice to Buddhist monks on their morning alms rounds. There are also many other ceremonies and events featured throughout the year to correspond to the Lanna rice-planting and religious cycles.
Lanna Style Wedding
An authentic Lanna style wedding with beautiful costumes, attendants, musicians and an elaborate Bai Sri or string tying ritual in the northern Thai tradition. The procession of the groom’s party to the bride’s home is perhaps the most colourful part of the day’s festivities with the groom transported on his choice of palanquin, horse and carriage or in princely style, atop a beautiful decorated elephant.
‘Ban Sam Lang’ Craft Village
‘Ban Sam Lang’ is our very own ‘Craft Village’ made up of a group of three traditional northern Thai style houses brought here from villages in the surrounding countryside. Ban Sam Lang will feature daily demonstrations of traditional crafts such as woodcarving and weaving. Guests can try their hand at these activities or perhaps choose one of the enrichment classes on offer such as ‘Traditional Thai Flower Arrangement’ or ‘Northern Thai Dance and Music’.
Cultural Performances
Our team of musicians, dancers, staging and costume specialists showcase the beauty and uniqueness of Lanna music and dance in a selection of performances to accompany parties or special events. Private In-Villa music (Lanna and classical western instrument choices) and dance is also available by contacting the Art and Culture Department.
