Whether you’re cruising it on a boat, jogging alongside it, or catching glimpses of it from high above the city, the Vltava River is at the heart of Prague’s outdoor life.

Tennis
With its great history of producing champions, it’s no surprise that Prague takes tennis seriously. Without a doubt, the best place to play is Stvanice, the oldest and most prestigious tennis club in the Czech Republic. It is here that all the great stars played, including Martina Navratilova, Ivan Lendl and current sensation Nicole Vaidisova. The Club has 14 outdoor clay courts (three of which can be lit for nighttime play) and 6 indoor courts. Court rental starts at approximately KC 400/hour. Equipment rental, English-speaking coaches, a tennis shop, massages and a swimming pool are all available. Stvanice’s courts are located on Stvanice Island, between Florenc and Vltavaska metro stations. Ask our concierge for more details or to help you book a court. Tel +420 222 316 317.
Swimming
There are several public swimming pools in and around Prague, all easily accessible from our hotel. The Sportcentrum YMCA at Na Prici Street has been recently renovated and offers a 25-metre public indoor pool and two whirlpools for relaxation. Admission is CZK 1.50/minute; please ask our concierge for current opening hours.
Parachuting
There are views and then there are views. If you’re feeling adventurous, check out the Czech Republic from above by signing up to parachute. Numerous companies offer this X-sport, including Tandem Centrum Praha, which has already carried out 4000 tandem jumps without injury. The company will arrange transport to and from the hotel. Expect to pay a minimum of EUR 130 for a tandem jump. Video or photos are EUR 45-60. For further information, ring +420 233 343 443 or, of course, our concierge will be happy to assist.
Mushroom Hunting
According to official data, the Czech population engages in this "sport" more frequently than any other nation in Europe. In fact, it’s a national pastime. If you’re up for joining the fun, hire a local guide and you’ll soon be picking porcini, chanterelles and Portobello mushrooms to your heart’s content. Be sure to leave the deadly muchomurky where you find them and don’t plan on going it alone. Knowledge of local terrain and species are essential to success. This is a highly original adventure that’s perfect for all ages. Mushroom hunting is a summer-to-autumn activity requiring favourable weather. Ask our concierge to make arrangements for you.
