The official language is Bahasa Indonesia, although English is widely spoken in tourist areas. Many older residents also speak Dutch, and Mandarin is spoken in the Chinatown area.
The Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) is the main currency and is available in the following denominations: 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000 and 100,000.
The local voltage is 220 volts AC. International adaptors and transformers are available in the hotel.

Embassies, major banks, ATM, currency exchange, and shopping and entertainment centres are all within walking distance.
Visa requirements vary according to nationality. Please check with your travel agent or with the nearest Indonesian embassy or consulate.
The nearest hospital is only 3km, or a 15-minute drive from the hotel. The Global Assistance Clinic is about 6km or 30 minutes away.
Tipping is not part of the local culture, however many restaurants add a service charge and taxis drivers will often round up to the next IDR 1000.
