Hortario
Hortario experienced his first class of yoga in 1974 whilst at university in his native Chile. A year later, he was living in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and had the chance to meet Indra Devi, probably the first westerner to have studied with Krishnamacharya, the grandfather of modern day yoga. Hortario continued his yoga practice and experienced some stints with teaching whilst he pursued a career in the Chilean Foreign Service which took him to the Middle East, Europe US and finally India.
In India, he had the chance to study with other great students of Krishnamacharya. He studied with BKS Iyengar in Pune and Patabhi Jois in Mysore and received authorisation to teach Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga after leaving the foreign service in 2000. He has since dedicated himself fully to the yogic path. He approaches yoga practice as an irreplaceable tool to help us keep perspective of life’s ups and downs and to find inner peace.
