Heston Blumenthal and Executive Chef Ashley Palmer-Watts spent years researching and exploring Britain’s gastronomic past, consulting with food historians, Royal Palaces and endless hours at The British Library. The result is a menu that has achieved worldwide recognition from food critics, chefs and customer alike.
Recipes used for inspiration date as far back as the Royal Courts of King Henry VIII and have produced classics such as Mandarin Meat Fruit for example.
The Tudor kitchens devised ways to entertain at great Royal Feasts and serving savoury meat courses disguised as fruit was commonplace. The Mandarin Meat Fruit served on today's menu is a delicious and certainly more sophisticated example than those of the 15th century, but the fun and enjoyment is still very much part of the experience.
The restaurant itself offers a warmth and relaxed energy in which to enjoy the award winning cuisine. It boasts exceptional views of Hyde Park and the interior, like the menu, is designed with historic reference yet modern and elegant in style. The private dining room seats up to 10 guests with the option of overlooking the restaurant or remaining completely private. There is also a chef’s table located alongside the kitchen which seats six. During the summer months we open the terrace which directly overlooks Hyde Park, offering one of London’s finest al fresco dining locations.
