Asana Introduces Contemporary American Cuisine

Hong Kong, 22 June 2012 – Asana, Mandarin Oriental, Boston’s stunning signature restaurant, announces a fresh approach to American cuisine with a new menu from Executive Chef Rachel Klein. The dynamic culinary team at Asana, led by Chef Klein, has reinvented the classic use of local, seasonal ingredients with an approachable and inventive Contemporary American dining menu. The launch of the new menu in Asana will be followed by exciting enhancements for M Bar & Lounge, In Room Dining, Spa Café, and banquets.

“Our talented culinary team, with Chef Klein at the helm, is bringing a contemporary interpretation of classic American cuisine to its menus,” said Alain Negueloua, General Manager, Mandarin Oriental, Boston. “At our colleagues’ skillful hands, we are excited to offer one of the most exquisite and sophisticated – yet fun and inspired – dining experiences in the city.”

In crafting her distinctive interpretations, Chef Klein utilizes her many cultural experiences, dining in ethnic restaurants, learning about the history of food in various regions and how it is shaped by unique customs and traditions, and collecting inspiration from art and music.

“My goal at Asana is to create a menu that is exciting and unexpected while remaining approachable,” said Chef Klein. “I wanted to have fun with the menu and create a lively, energetic environment. This menu bonds my history and the food I love with the sophisticated and exotic flair Asana is known for.”

Inspirations for appetizers include Lobster Beignets with Creamed Corn, Chinese Sausage, Chili Aioli and Pea Tendrils. Additional dinner entrées include Roasted Georges Bank Scallops with candied pork belly, English pea puree, hibiscus, maitake, mint pea tendrils and pickled pearl onion or Steak & Eggs with potato puree, asparagus, red wine sauce and crispy poached truffled duck egg. Dinner ranges from USD 12 to USD 23 for appetizers and USD 12 to USD 46 for entrées. Dessert creations include Strawberry “Shortcake” with vanilla cream, strawberry ice cream and sable crumbs or Hazlenut & Vanilla Bavarian Cream accompanied by mango caviar, hazlenut dacquoise and popcorn ice cream. Desserts range from USD 10 to USD 12.
