Mandarin Oriental, Manila To Ring In The Prosperous Year Of The Water Snake

Hong Kong, 11 January 2013 – To usher in the Lunar New Year, Mandarin Oriental, Manila is inviting guests to enjoy what has become an annual tradition at the hotel during the festive season - the Grand Midnight Countdown to be held on the eve of Chinese New Year. Guests can relax in comfort and ring in the Year of the Water Snake in true Oriental style with a festive room package designed to bring good luck and happiness.

The Feasts and Fortunes package starts at PHP 8,888 per night for single occupancy or PHP 12, 888 per night for double occupancy in a Superior or Deluxe Room and includes:

  • International buffet breakfast
  • Entrance to the Grand Midnight Countdown on 9 February 2013, along with the exclusive 2013 Year of the Snake Forecast Book authored by renowned geomancer Master Joseph Chau
  • Lucky Feng Shui Charm from the Yin and Yang Shop of Harmony
  • A box of homemade tikoy

The Feasts and Fortunes package is valid from 1 to 10 February 2013 and rates are subject to 10% service charge and prevailing government tax.

During the Grand Midnight Countdown the celebrations will include a spectacular outdoor show with a grand eye-dotting ceremony, a majestic dragon and lion dance, and an auspicious Paai-Shan ceremony and energising rituals conducted by renowned geomancer Master Joseph Chau. This will lead up to an exciting countdown at midnight and what is a key ingredient of every Chinese New Year celebration, a dazzling fireworks display. Capping the evening will be a sumptuous midnight Lauriat dinner, the first lucky meal of the year, to be held at the stylishly-decorated Mandarin Ballroom and a chance to win a holiday for two to Guangzhou via Dragonair for a two-night stay in Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou (opens in late January).
