The award-winning wine list encompasses a mix of current releases, to classic vintages from the finest producers, with the latest boutique wineries worldwide. Some of Betancourt’s favorite wines stem from Spain, France, Austria and Hungary, which will be reflected in Azul’s continuously evolving wine selections. Betancourt’s approach with guests is one of opening their minds and palates to sample the many fruits and tastes of the globe in a friendly and genuine manner.
Betancourt began her career by studying the culinary arts, and eventually her love for cuisine blossomed into her passion for wine. She spent several years growing in her field by studying and traveling through various wine regions in Europe.
Betancourt holds the rare honor of having attained the second level in the Guild of Master Sommeliers, which is an achievement that very few Sommeliers can lay claim to, and is continuing her education to achieve Master Sommelier. She is also certified as a Certified Specialist of Wine by the Society of Wine Educators and is a member of the International Sommelier Guild.
According to Betancourt, there must be a harmonious balance between wine and cuisine. She says, “Wine accentuates the natural flavors of the cuisine to allow for a most unique and memorable dining experience.”
