Two major shopping centres are approximately five minutes walk from the hotel, Union Square and Embarcadero Center.
Two hospitals are within five to ten minutes taxi ride from the hotel, Saint Francis Memorial and California Pacific Medical Center.
Tips can often be viewed as part of a workers salary so tipping is important in San Francisco. As a guide expect to tip taxi drivers, bartenders, hairdressers and waiters around 15%. In expensive restaurants or for large parties tip 20% of the bill. Someone cleaning your room should be given USD 2 or 3 each day, bell hops carrying luggage should receive USD 1 per bag. Door staff and concierge providing a service would expect USD 2 to 5.
