A native of Kyushu, Japan, our dedicated Chef de Cuisine, Hiroaki Arishima, has over 30 years of experience in the Chinese kitchen. He began his career at Keio Plaza Hotel in Tokyo in 1981 and after having worked at many of the city’s renowned Chinese restaurants, including Karin at ANA Intercontinental Tokyo and Hei Fung Terrace at Peninsula Tokyo, and countless study trips to Hong Kong, he joined Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo as Chef de Cuisine at Sense in August 2012.
Chef Arishima has been awarded a Medal of Distinction and Medal of Technical Service by the Japanese Association of Chinese Cuisine, as well as the Tokyo Governor’s Award of Superior Chef.
With views stretching out through floor-to-ceiling windows over the city, Sense has two private dining rooms for eight diners each. These two rooms can be connected to form a spectacular dining space for up to 18 guests.
