When building our hotel we were able to specify the qualities event planners value: natural light, terraces, views, privacy, direct loading access and branding opportunities.
Our spaces also offer originality: such as a working art gallery with a private elevator, a wall of windows, and a large flagstone patio overlooking the Jefferson Memorial. Our ballroom has direct access large enough to accommodate an automobile and is designed for an uninterrupted field of vision. And we are the only hotel with a 4,000 square foot event lawn where guests can enjoy the sunset over the Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial.
The 8,300-square-foot Grand Ballroom is a distinctive and elegant environment. There is simply not a bad seat in the house thanks to its near perfect square shape, lack of pillars and its high 18 foot ceilings. An exclusive environment is maintained by private access and private restrooms. Technology and structure are designed for purpose with load bearing ceiling hang points for technical equipment. The ballroom is one of the only luxury environments that can accommodate an automobile and a vast loading bay has direct access to the space, eliminating the logistical problems when moving major equipment.
These more intimate settings are ideal for smaller meetings, break out event spaces or temporary conference offices. The Hillwood Room provides excellent gathering space with natural light. A private conference entrance opens to a paved drive large enough to stage group or executive arrivals and departures, and the nearby Sackler and Hirshhorn Rooms offer dual entrances for maximizing the flow of guests.
All are fully equipped with drop down screens, white boards and wireless Internet access. Ceilings reach a full 12 feet high – unusually spacious for smaller conference rooms.
We have two charming Garden Rooms and a working art Gallery, each with a private flagstone patio.
The Gallery is quite special with a wall of windows and prime views of the Jefferson Memorial. It has private elevator access and self-contained rest rooms. The curator of art ensures an interesting and ever changing exhibition.
Moving outdoors, guests can meander through the Zen Garden or to our expansive Event Lawn. This 4,000 square foot outdoor space overlooks the Washington Marina, Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial; it is a memorable setting from which to watch the sunset. Whether you are arranging a wedding ceremony, lively cocktail party or a game of croquet, the Event Lawn is an outdoor playground that no other Washington luxury hotel offers.
