Joining its award-winning sister restaurants in London and New York, Bar Boulud, Boston is a French-inspired bistro and wine bar from internationally acclaimed chef Daniel Boulud. Specializing in classic brasserie fare, Bar Boulud is known for being one of the best French restaurants in Boston with its seasonal New England inspired menu and signature charcuterie from renowned Parisian charcutier Gilles Vérot.
Accessible directly from Boylston Street or through the hotel lobby, Bar Boulud’s design offers a contemporary take on the craft of winemaking, showcasing vaulted ceilings inspired by wine barrels and a feature wall fashioned from wine crates. With a choice of seating including a row of stunning rich burgundy leather booths, the restaurant also features a 7-seat marble charcuterie counter, a glass enclosed wine cellar and a 17-seat backlit zinc top bar.
Bar Boulud’s menu offers a wonderful choice of both French and American dishes, enhanced by an impressive wine cellar specializing in Burgundy and the Rhône Valley. As suited to special occasions as it is to business lunches and leisurely meals, Bar Boulud, Boston is one of Boylston Street’s best French dining venues.
Showcasing the best of France and the United States, Bar Boulud’s menu offers a selection of bistro classics such as Boudin Blanc, a white pork sausage with truffled mashed potatoes, alongside American dishes including beef burgers topped Irish bacon, cheddar cheese and Guinness braised onions.
Visitors to Bar Boulud will also be able to enjoy a wonderful array of traditional terrines and pâté from renowned Parisian charcutier Gilles Vérot, including pâté Grand-Mère, chicken liver, pork, cognac and pâté Grand-Père, foie gras, pork and truffle.

One of the most celebrated chefs on the East Coast, French chef Daniel Boulud is considered to be one of America's leading culinary authorities on French cuisine. Based in New York for over 30 years, chef Boulud is renowned for his soulful interpretation of traditional French cuisine and is chef-owner of restaurants around the globe including the three Michelin-star New York City restaurant DANIEL.
The author of eight cookbooks and the recipient of multiple James Beard Foundation awards including “Outstanding Chef” and “Outstanding Restaurateur,” chef Boulud has also been named a Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur by the French government. He is a generous supporter and Co-President of Citymeals-on-Wheels and is also Chairman of the Bocuse d’Or USA Foundation.
Chef Michael Denk returns to the Boulud family as Chef de Cuisine of Bar Boulud, Boston, located at Mandarin Oriental, Boston. Chef Denk boasts an impressive eight-year career within the fine dining industry, spending six of those years within the Dinex Restaurant Group, training under internationally acclaimed chef and restaurateur Daniel Boulud.
Growing up in Chicago, IL and under the tutelage of his Italian-American grandmother, Nani, Chef Denk spent his childhood in the kitchen learning to cook. After graduating from Eastern Illinois University with a degree in Philosophy, Nani gifted Chef Denk a professional cooking class at Kendall College. It was while at Kendall, Chef Denk realized his true passion for cooking and decided to pursue a career in the culinary arts.
After spending a year in Chicago as the Chef de Partie at Chef Bill Kim’s elegant Le Lan Restaurant, Chef Denk made his way to New York where he joined the Dinex Restaurant Group as Chef de Partie at Café Boulud, the popular Michelin-star New York City eatery. It was there that Chef Denk studied under Chef Daniel Boulud’s expert team and worked his way up to the role of Sous Chef.
After five successful years at Café Boulud, Chef Denk took his culinary skillset to Boston and joined Chef Boulud’s opening team at Bar Boulud, Boston as the newly appointed Sous Chef.
After leaving Bar Boulud, Boston in 2015 for a brief term as Executive Chef for the opening of Boston’s The Ginger Man, Chef Denk is excited to return to the restaurant he helped launch.
Private Dining events at Bar Boulud are available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Rhône Room is separated from the restaurant by use of a contemporary sliding barn door and can accommodate up to 20-seated guests. In addition, our Chef’s Table provides an exclusive interactive culinary experience for up to 8 guests.
For semi-private occasions, the High Table is located in front of our impressive wine cellar and can accommodate a seated event for 10 or a reception for up to 40 guests.
