Take a tea break

Pause for a moment of calm in the serene setting of Mandarin Oriental, Sanya’s in-house Phoenix Tea House, open from 11am. Admire handcrafted teapots and ancient chinaware, or gen up on the history of the brew from tea-related tomes, whilst sipping on a cup of Pu Er, or Tie Guan Yin. There are more than 100 exquisite varieties on the menu, many of them rare blends. Suitably revived, you can head back to your room to freshen-up and go.

Got some extra time before you continue your journey?  Make sure you’ve booked into The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Bodrum, a triple-tier temple to wellbeing, with mood-boosting views over the Aegean Sea. Treatments include the Oxygen Regenerating Facial, an hour-long treatment which will leave skin radiant and ready for the road.

Have a sweet treat

Salted butter caramel, vanilla cream, puff pastry and whipped cream, it’s the stuff that dessert-lovers’ dreams – and the extravagant Le Saint-Honoré pastry served at Mandarin Oriental, Paris Cake Shop – are made of. Pause here before you need to check out and enjoy this signature pastry; it should give you enough of a sugar rush to return to your room to pack.

The in-the-know concierge team can help you map a route to suit, of anything from three to 18 miles depending on how energetic you feel. Prefer to stay indoors?
