Mandarin Oriental, Geneva

A living example of Swiss hotel tradition at its very best, Mandarin Oriental, Geneva has a superb location on the River Rhône, located within the heart of Geneva’s shopping, historic and business districts. Following an extensive refurbishment completed in March 2013, the hotel features 181 spacious rooms and suites, with many suites enjoying private terraces and views of the River Rhône, Old Town and surrounding snow-capped mountains. The guestrooms feature warm earth tones of beige, brown and plum, with modern art accents and state-of-the-art technology. Fine dining and unparalleled service make it the ideal choice for discerning travelers.

The property opened in 1950 and was the first luxury hotel built in Europe after World War II. Today, the hotel is on the city’s list of Historical Heritage landmarks.

The Signature Terrace Suites have unique features including their own elevator, a private massage room with hammam and views of the world famous Mont-Blanc.

Mandarin Oriental, Geneva has welcomed esteemed guests ranging from royalty to musicians to politicians. Famous guests include Prince Albert of Belgium, jazz legend Dizzy Gillespie and U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

The hotel’s signature fan dates back to 1889 and has a storied history. It was found in an antique shop in Geneva and then lovingly restored by a local artist. It is believed the fan originally belonged to a high society gentleman, Edmond Taillard, who gave it to his fiancé during a romantic Swiss holiday.
