As well as embracing and putting into practice our global sustainability initiatives, we, as Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus, Istanbul, are officially GSTC Certification, 0 Waste Management certificate and I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate)

Naturally Better

In addition to embracing and implementing our global sustainability initiatives, such as eliminating single-use plastic, here at Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus, Istanbul, we also have our own local initiatives to ensure that we play our part in making your stay more sustainable.

For the Planet

Plastic

We have implemented several measures across our hotel which align with our group-wide policy of eliminating single-use plastic by March 2021. Beyond the removal of plastic bottles, we have eliminated many of the single-use amenities in our Spa. We are also working on replacing all single-use in-room amenities with innovative bamboo-based guest toiletries.

Energy and water

One of our primary sustainability goals is to benefit from affordable and clean energy sources. Some of our energy is provided from renewable energy sources. Carbon footprint measurements and reporting are carried out periodically. To ensure energy recycling, our biodegradable waste is separated at the source and delivered to relevant recycling facilities. In addition, the roof of Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus, Istanbul is decorated with green plants.

In Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus, Istanbul, water consumption is reduced by controlled irrigation using the drip irrigation system in our landscaping areas. Water-saving fixtures are used in our guest rooms and general areas.

For communities

Employee training

Our colleagues play a pivotal role in ensuring we deliver our sustainability goals. By conducting regular waste management training sessions via a local third party in order to keep our employees informed about the use of unnecessary plastics and other environmental detractors, thus increasing awareness on how we can act to preserve our environment.

Sustainable Seafood

One of the most important goals of Mandarin Oriental, Istanbul is to help protect marine life. Highlighting the importance of sustainably caught seafood and the importance of supporting local fishermen we acquire the seafood that has been served at its restaurants from fishermen who are dedicated to the integrity and sustainability of fisheries throughout the Aegean and Marmara Sea.

Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus, Istanbul, believes in holistic wellness, which is why we offer free well-being and fitness classes, Power Pilates, Mindfulness Meditation, and Deep Stretching. Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus, Istanbul, also provides a range of activities for little ones, including various creative, fun, and educational activities such as painting, various ball games, music, pizza making, and theater.
