Day 1 - An Immersion into Spanish Artistry
Check into Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid, a Belle Époque palace centrally situated in the city’s Golden Triangle of Art. In the early afternoon, join a Factum Arte expert guide and walk to the Museo del Prado for a tour of the iconic masterpieces of romantic painter and printmaker Francisco Goya.
Continue to a studio at the cutting-edge of art and restoration in Europe. Factum Arte is a multidisciplinary workshop which combines assiduous craftsmanship and bespoke technology. Its preservation work blurs the lines between the digital and the physical. Visit the print studio and tapestry department and explore Factum Arte’s 15-year collaboration with the Museo del Prado, which encompasses the high-resolution 3D digitisation of all 14 of Goya’s ‘Black Paintings’. Filled with representations of witches, demons and man-eating monsters, the series was painted by the artist with oil directly onto the walls of his Madrid home between 1819 and 1823.
Return to Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid by private transfer and enjoy the evening at leisure.
