History

Timeless Heritage in the Heart of Munich

Munich’s history spans more than 850 years, originating with the monks who settled here – giving the city its name from “bei den Mönchen” (“by the monks”). Over time, it became the seat of the Wittelsbach dynasty, shaping the city’s grand architecture, cultural life and enduring charm. The hotel itself is set in a historic building dating back to the 19th century, originally constructed in Neo-Renaissance style and once home to an opera house. Carefully restored, it now blends classical architecture with contemporary luxury, reflecting Munich’s unique balance of heritage and modern sophistication.
