Route 1: Crazy Rich Asians Sidecars
An awesome Crazy Rich Asian experience exploring movie locations and a unique and exclusive black and white colonial enclave by sidecar.

 

Explore the lush green surrounds of the enclave by sidecar, a former 1800’s Pepper Plantation, viewing dozens of real Crazy Rich Asian ‘good class’ bungalows and black and white properties spanning the full spectrum from bungalow to colonnaded mansion formerly home to Senior Officers, with the oldest dating from 1900, and many from 1935 when they were built for Far East Land, Sea and Air Forces.

Route 2: The Peranakan Heritage Sidecars
The Joo Chiat and Katong area not only a treasure trove for delectable local food but is also known for its decorative and ornate shophouses and residential terraces, which lends a special charm

 

In the 1920s and 1930s, many communities move eastward out of the city centre to make this area their home. Bungalows, shophouses and places of worship were being built, a reflection of the multi-cultural and varied community of Peranakan, Eurasian, Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures. Dubbed as “Little Singapore”, Joo Chiat and Katong are Singapore’s largest architecture conservation district.

 

Explore the neighbourhood in search of colourful shophouses, trades & craft of Chinese diaspora of Singapore and historical landmarks – once filled with coconut plantations and used as a weekend retreat by wealthy city dwellers.
