East ↔ West: Creative Crossings
Mandarin Oriental Mayfair and Mayfair Design District open The Living Square yearly theme with East ↔ West: Creative Crossings this January, an exhibition that brings Asian and European perspectives into dialogue through contemporary craft, design and sculpture. Inspired by the hotel’s Asian heritage and its Mayfair setting, the exhibition explores how ideas shift across cultures, revealing unexpected connections between materials, traditions and artistic expressions.
Participating galleries include 1882 Ltd, BlueriderART, Charles Burnand, Han Collection, MINT and The Stratford Gallery, each contributing a distinct voice to this international conversation. Works are installed throughout the hotel.
All artworks are available for purchase. Guests wishing to enquire about a specific piece may contact Mayfair Design District directly. QR codes throughout the hotel provide additional details on each artist and their practice.
As part of this wider exchange, Mandarin Oriental Mayfair and Mayfair Design District will collaborate with Collect Fair at Somerset House on a public talk in late February, extending the cultural dialogue initiated during Frieze 2025 and strengthening ongoing connections between the craft, design, hospitality and gallery communities.
The exhibition marks the first chapter of The Living Square, an evolving cultural programme that positions Mandarin Oriental Mayfair as a contemporary salon at the heart of London’s creative landscape.
