Alexandra Shulman: Journalist and author.

I'm a fan of...

Pippa Small Jewellery

Pippa’s London based company creates hand-crafted ethical jewellery helping to support craftsmen from across the world. Her pieces have an organic beauty and feature the most glorious coloured gemstones.

Ibiza’s cooler (thought not literally) and less noisy little sister. Head for Platja de Migjorn on the south side of the island to find clear turquoise sea, and great beach bars.

Original Floris Bath Essences

Just a couple of drops of either Stephanotis or Rose Geranium and you are transported to a heavenly place that is forever a claw footed bath in Downtown Abbey.

Secret Garden

The courtyard garden at Mandarin Oriental, Paris. An oasis in the centre of the city, almost tropical in its planting and offering a lush and lovely view of treetops from the rooms. It’s a great place to hang out with one of their delicious cocktails.

Joan Didion

Didion’s journalism and often over-looked novels demonstrate her acute and original powers of observation and analysis. She never bores and always inspires.

Aldous Harding

This New Zealand singer song-writer is a relatively new discovery for me. Her latest album Barrel is excellent but her 2017 track Imagining My Man is the don’t-miss.

Fortnum & Mason Food Hall

This traditional emporium is a demonstration of how beautiful food packaging can be. As well as stocking an irresistible range of gifts including chocolates, biscuits and fragrant teas.

Golborne Road

This extension of Portobello Road in London is where I go to eat scrambled eggs for lunch, wander around the antique shops and buy huge bunches of herbs from the Moroccan shops.
