Sir Peter Blake is often referred to as the ‘Godfather of Pop Art’. One of his best known pieces is the iconic cover sleeve for The Beatles’ album Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. His work often uses collage to combine images from pop culture with fine art and is symptomatic of his lifelong thirst for collecting. He was photographed at his studio, amid a selection of his countless trinkets and objets d’art.

To mark the 50th anniversary of Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, Sir Peter created a composition of all Mandarin Oriental’s illustrious Fans, whilst remarking “Needless to say, I’m a fan too”.

Sir Peter’s largest ever artwork, entitled ‘Our Fans’, is a collage of 100 of the most celebrated patrons of Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London. It covered the hotel’s entire façade during its multi-million pound restoration.

Sir Peter became a Royal Academician in 1981 and a CBE in 1963. In 2002 he was knighted for his services to art.
