Tranquility and Beauty of Lake Como
Surrounded by the tranquillity and beauty of Lake Como, the villa became a source of inspiration for musicians, writers and artists. It is said that Gaetano Donizetti completed his opera Anna Bolena here, while Italian composer, Vincenzo Bellini, a close friend of Pasta, was a frequent visitor. Legend says, Pasta would sing from the windows of the villa, her voice carrying across the lake to the small town of Moltrasio, where Bellini would listen, captivated by her beautiful voice. Pasta hosted many other illustrious guests at the villa, including Italian composer Gioacchino Rossini, writer and poet Alessandro Manzoni, French novelist Stendhal, and artist Maria Cosway.
